Course Reps are the link between you and the University on all things course related. They listen to your thoughts and ideas about your course, and feed this back to your Department Reps.
By telling your Course Rep how you are feeling about your course, they can drive positive change within the University to make sure you are getting the best experience you can whilst at Solent University.

Why be a Course Rep?
There are plenty of reasons to become a Course Rep during your time in higher education.

Training
To be a recognised Course Rep, you must attend the Course Rep Induction Training.
This will cover:
- the Key Roles and Responsibilities of a Course Rep
- Code of Conduct
- the Academic Framework
- A Guide to Meetings
- the Feedback Loop
- Communication
- Support for Course Reps
- Course Rep Reward Scheme
Induction Training Dates for October 2024
Monday 14th October (14:00-16:00)
Thursday 17th October (10:30-12:30)
Thursday 17th October (14:30-16:30)
These training dates are for In- Person training.
If you were unable to complete your training, do not worry - you can still become a Course Rep!

How do I become a Course Rep?
Students can apply to be a Course Rep here. You need to fill in your details, complete the questions and select your prefered training date.
There needs to be one Course Rep per level, per course. This ensures we can gather feedback on the academic experiences across all levels of courses.
You are only a Course Rep once you have completed the Induction Training and recieved your Course Rep lanyard.

As a Course Rep, you are representing the student voice for your course and making change happen.
Course Rep training
The first thing to do is take part in our course rep training to make sure you’ve got the skills, resources and connections to represent your peers. The next course rep training will be held on the following dates and times.

Student Council
We host a Student Council meeting at least five times a year, which Course Reps are expected to attend to listen to students about issues or motions. More information and upcoming Student Council meeting details can be found here.
Course Rep Day
Furthermore, Course Reps are invited to our annual Course Rep Day, hosted by your VP Education, designed to give you skills and knowledge which will look great on your CV, and help you perform your best in your role. Watch this space for when the event will be taking place!

Why not book in a meeting with our Student Voice Lead using their dedicated office hours to help our academic reps (like Course Reps). These times will be kept free as much as possible so you can have a regular and dedicated space for help!
