FREE Domino’s pizza, selfies with mascots, prize wheels, and tote bags full of discounts all in one place, it can only mean one thing – Solent Students’ Union Freshers’ Fair is back!
Hosted by Solent Students’ Union (Solent SU) and attended by over 3000 new and returning Solent University students, Solent SU Freshers’ Fair is the biggest event of the year!
Freshers’ Fair is a two-day event taking place on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd September from 10am to 4pm each day in the Sports Complex at Solent University. The event is completely free, no sign up required and all Solent University students are welcome to attend.
The event is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more and sign up to over 20 sports clubs and teams available, including sailing, women’s rugby, and volleyball.
With over 15 societies to choose from, such as the Doctor Who society, the Queer society, the Islamic society, or the Engineering society, and many more, there really is something for everyone to get involved in.
Those attending can also learn more about the services available at Solent Students’ Union, including a free and independent academic advice service, volunteering opportunities, Safe Solent free taxi service, elections for full-time paid Sabbatical Officer roles, and much more!
Southampton Football Club, Toob full-fibre broadband, Super Uni Housing and 7Bone are just some of the national and local names attending the event to speak with students and provide discounts and freebies.
Rebecca C Johnson, Solent Students’ Union’s new VP Engagement for 2023/24, will be attending the event to speak with students about all things Solent Students’ Union.
Rebecca said: “Freshers Fair is our most popular event of the year and it’s not one you want to miss! We want all students to make use of the event, learn more about their Students’ Union and of course grab as many freebies as they can!
“Freshers’ Fair gives both new and returning students the opportunity to meet the students who run our sports clubs, societies, and volunteering projects. Being a part of these communities can really help you make friends and learn something new. You can also find out what services are available to Solent University students and speak to our Solent Students’ Union Sabbatical Officer team.
“We’ve seen massive growth in attendance over the years - so much so that we have had to move into the Sports Complex for a second year running, so a huge thank you to Solent University for the space!
“We are so excited to see as many students as possible at the event, and of course, don’t be afraid to come and say hi to your friendly Solent Students’ Union team!”
Solent Students’ Union is also warning students to be cautious if you see Freshers' 2023 events being promoted by external companies & venues - official events are only hosted by Solent Students’ Union and Solent University. More information can be found at www.solentsu.co.uk about the event.
