As we settle into Term Two, I, your VP of Communities and Wellbeing, Syed, want to reflect on how crucial it was for me to know about the wide range of support services available at Solent.

When I first started university, I quickly realised that being okay personally - both in terms of my wellbeing, social life and finances - was directly linked to my ability to focus on my academic work and do well at uni. Having access to the right support at the right time made a significant difference in my journey, and I want to ensure every student knows about these resources too.

Whether you need academic assistance, wellbeing support, or guidance in your personal life, there's a resource for you. Read on to find out what's available and how to make the most of your university experience.

Solent Students' Union Services: Your First Stop for Support

SU Exchange - beating the cost of living crisis

The Exchange, located right next to East Park Deli, is a welcoming space where students can access the Exchange community pantry, free condoms and sanitary products. It's a unique space on campus, created by your SU to help students beat the cost of living crisis - the signup fee is only £6 for Term Two.

Open Monday and Tuesday, 11am - 2pm, and Wednesday and Thursday, 11am - 3pm, it can be used once a week as a supplement to shopping, and each member can take up to 5 items. This ensures all students have the same opportunity to access essentials and makes it fair. Find more info on the Exchange here.

Need help navigating academic challenges? The Academic Advice Service provides confidential and independent guidance on academic issues such as appeals, complaints, and disciplinary matters. Our advisers are here to support you through any concerns, ensuring you understand your rights and options.
