Without our volunteers and especially our Fundraising Groups we wouldn’t be able to support people living with sight loss live their lives actively, independently, and well. As a fundraising volunteer you will be part of a community that raises awareness and vital funds for Guide Dogs. From organising fundraising events to counting the funds that make it possible, you will be providing invaluable support to our organisation.
What are we looking for?

Promotional Packs – Guide Dogs

The purpose of this role is to raise awareness of our volunteering opportunities at Guide Dogs. Without volunteers, we would not be able to support those living with sight loss in your community. The role involves working and connecting with your community and putting up our posters in your locality. As this is a micro volunteering opportunity, it is perfect for students wanting to give a little bit of time for a really big impact.
We are looking for anyone who is comfortable and confident to chat to people in their community and put up our posters in shops, on notice boards, at events etc.
All micro volunteers will receive a top tips document to ensure that they get the most out of this opportunity.

Collection Box Coordinator – Guide Dogs

Without our volunteers and especially our Fundraising Groups we wouldn’t be able to support people living with sight loss live their lives actively, independently, and well. As a Collection Box Coordinator, you will be involved in displaying our iconic collection boxes in your local community to help raise funds for Guide Dogs. This is a community-based role where you look for places to display our collection boxes, liaising with local businesses to encourage them to display the boxes, emptying and banking the funds from the collection boxes and generally being an ambassador for Guide Dogs. You will have a dedicated volunteer manager as well as peers from the local Community Fundraising Group who will support you throughout your role.
What are we looking for?
Ideally you will have good organisational skills to organise distribution of collection boxes. Have good communication skills to spread the word about Guide Dogs.

Fundraising Committee Volunteer
Location Face to face/remote/online
Dates Once a month for Fundraising Committee meeting plus time for any planning and events organised.
Hours Flexible depending on the time you are able to offer.
As a Fundraising Committee Volunteer, you will work alongside our Fundraising Officer and fellow volunteers, to help to plan and deliver events and activities to raise funds and awareness of No Limits, benefitting vulnerable children and young people across Hampshire.
The Fundraising Committee meets once a month and we are looking for passionate and creative people who can help with researching, seeking new opportunities and bringing new ideas - as well as helping with the planning and delivery of fundraising events, such as the ABP Southampton Marathon.
There is no set time commitment for this role - we are happy to be guided by you on the time you can offer.
Volunteers are very much part of our team, so you will be invited to other meetings and organisational events too.

Literacy Support Volunteer - The Literacy Pirates

Through our term-long, after-school programme, we develop the literacy, confidence and perseverance of children aged 9-13, who are falling behind in class and have fewer opportunities in their personal lives, so that they can succeed at school and beyond.
What are we looking for?
As a Volunteer Crewmate, your role is to join our online sessions and help the children practise their reading and writing, 1:1 and in small groups. Sessions are led and managed by our staff team, which means you can dedicate the whole time you’re with us to providing direct support to the children.
No experience is required to become a volunteer – just a desire help children develop their reading and writing skills! Full training is provided.
All you need is:
- To be aged 16+
- Eligible to volunteer in the UK
- To complete a DBS check (we cover the cost of this)
- Access to a laptop or desktop computer with a working webcam and microphone (mobile devices are unsuitable for this role).

In being a Student Ambassador for MAST Mayflower Studios, you will work closely with the Marketing team at MAST and share content around upcoming shows. You will be required to:

Do a feed post on your personal social media about the show, at least one week before it is at MAST, including a discount code.

Post a couple of stories about your visit to the venue to see the show.

Post the discount code/artwork within any course group chats/Facebook groups.
MAST will supply the artwork and assist with copywriting for your social media feed post, including the discount code. You will need to tag MAST in any post about us/the shows.

Citizens Advice Witness Service Court Volunteer – Citizens Advice Witness Service
Location Southampton Crown Court and West Hampshire Magistrates Court, London Road, Southampton, SO15 2XQ
Dates We recruit volunteers on an ongoing basis.
Hours 1 day per week of 9-5
- Training is approx 3 months consisting of e-learning modules and shadowing experienced volunteers at the courts.
- Giving witnesses and their supporters emotional support, guidance and information at court (e.g. explain court procedures and legal terms)
- Showing witnesses and others around the courtroom before a trial so they are familiar and at ease in the environment.
- Carrying out the paperwork necessary to record and evaluate our work.
- Going into the courtroom with a witness if permitted.
- Identifying additional support to which we can signpost witnesses.
- Working as part of a team with other Witness Service volunteers and staff as well as liaising with court personnel.

We are looking for volunteers to support pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds in maths or English. As a volunteer, you’ll:
- Work with 1-3 pupils to improve their English and maths, either in-person or online
- Commit to a 10-20 week programme, for just one hour a week
- Support either primary or secondary school-aged pupils
- Use our tutor workbooks to shape your weekly sessions

Youth Team Volunteers teach young people, from a wide breadth of backgrounds, vital first aid skills. Volunteers will help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills and self-discipline. This Youth Leader role is integral to the running of our cadet programme for young people aged 10-17. Working with your Unit Manager, you will lead session plans under the Unit Manager’s direction, support young people to achieve their challenges, and strive to engage new members of the community in joining St John.
Sessions take place in the evening on one day during the week, and the day depends on the unit. For example, Gosport meet on Friday evenings 7-9pm
