Manifesto

Candidate for the position of Vice President Engagement

Catherine Eager

As Head of Student Engagment, my main focus would be to maintain and build upon the incredible work already done by the current HoSE. My plan would be to continue with improving engagement and schedule consistent events for students throughout the year to ensure maintained contact between the union and students.

Student events are some of the things I've enjoyed most while being at Solent - both working them and attending - and I plan to keep the favourites (Cinema in the Spark, Quiz Night, Open Mic, Karaoke, seasonal balls, etc.) but also keep up to date with what the students want to do in order to keep the events tailored to the students the union works for.

Having been President of Solent Stage for the last three years, I have worked closely with both the SU and current and former HoSE so have a comprehensive understanding of where we can afford to improve things for students. My work with societies (both Solent Stage and others through collaboration) has provided me with an insight into the support these societies need in order to survive and succeed and I have seen first-hand how instrumental these societies are in boosting students' mental health and wellbeing - I want to ensure they are well-looked after, fully supported and able to continue doing the amazing work that they do.

In short, my goal is simple: maintain the progress made this year and build upon it. I believe the SU can do amazing things for its students and I would love to be a part of it.
