Welcome candidate, congratulations on applying for the role and wanting to be the voice of students at Solent University.
This is your candidate hub, the central spot for everything you'll need to run an effective campaign in the elections. If you have any questions or concerns, then please get in contact with the Election Team by emailing elections@solent.ac.uk.

Campaigning is a huge part of running in this election, and we strongly recommend you make the most of this!

Election rules
It is vital all candidates running in the Solent By- Elections 2024 are familiar and follow our election rules. This will basically be your cheet sheet to all things elections and the process you need to follow. Click here to view.
Deadlines
Please take note of the deadlines below, as you will need to ensure you dont miss anything important and break an election rule!
Candidate briefing: Monday 21st October 12pm in JM202
A candidate briefing will take place in the Solent Students' Union office. It is important that all candidates running in the Solent By-Elections 2024 attend the meeting to learn all the hints, tips, advice for campainging, including artwork, social media, branding, slogans. You will also be run through how the elections process works, key deadlines and contacts, and much more. The meeting wont last longer than one hour, but can make all the difference!
Pledges, artwork and media deadline: Wednesday 23rd October AT 12PM
This is for your manifesto (the pledges you make to students on changes you would make while in your role), your artwork which helps to promote you as a candidate, and a video to help promote yourself as a candidate. We will share anything you send to use by this deadline on our social media and on our website; anything you make after this we will not share.

Voting and campaigning opens: Monday 28th October at 10am
From this moment you are allowed to start advertising your campaign, asking students for their votes and talkiing about the election!

You can also vote in-person at a polling station. Polling stations are located near our election events. A full list of voting events can be found here.
You can also vote for yourself, don't forget that!
Expenses deadline: Friday 1st November at 12pm
You must send in your expenses form by this point declaring what money you have spent during the election (even if you havent spent anything at all). Budgets and money guide can be found in the Election Rules.
Voting and campaigning closes: Friday 1st November at 3pm
Students will not be able to vote beyond this point.
Results to be announced: By Monday 4th or Tuesday 5th November online.
This is subject to change due to any outstanding appeals or complaints process that need to be resolved if raised.

Candidate Welfare
Your welfare should always come before the elections, so please prioritise yourself. If you do need support, then please contact the Elections Team, who are responsible for the welfare of all candidates in the election.
