Would you like to Get Involved with a current volunteering project? Or maybe start your very own project? Solent Students' Union can help in a whole number of ways. Volunteering can help and support you in so many ways, it is a great way to meet new people with similar interests and stand out from the crowd with graduate employers. Keep an eye out for Solent SU Awards where YOU can be rewarded for your volunteering commitments. 

We are always looking for students to volunteer with the Students' Union to get involved with our campaigns, activities or to plan and run your own events! Come and speak to VP Engagement in the Sabbatical Office to find out about our opportunities, or email suengagement@solent.ac.uk.

CURRENT VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

The Events Committee

The events committee is looking for people to help plan and organise big SU events such as, Freshers and Graduation Ball. This will give you direct experience in event planning and organisation. 

The Guest Lecture Committee 

The guest lecture committee meet every 2 weeks to discuss speakers to inspire students here at Solent in their chosen careers.

Students on this committee have the chance to contact guests directly and arrange the talk. This gives students the opportunity to network and gain essential skills for the workplace such as, communication and organisation.

Help Brighten Someone's Day 

Help brighten someone’s day and visit an elderly person in Southampton. You can pop along to Southampton City Council day centre to simply chat with someone, teach them a new skill or read them a story? The choice is yours, it is a great way to make a difference in your community.

Environmental Volunteering  

Do you want to be a part of Solent Students' Union environmental and green initiatives, previous and ongoing projects include: Go Green Week, Eco Ernie and the development of our new student allotment.

If you have an idea for an environmental project or initiative you would like to see on campus, come and get involved in the environmental volunteering.

Other Opportunities 

Eco Ernie 2012

Eco Ernie promotes environmental and green initiatives to students, as well as the opportunity to run your own environmental events. 

We are always looking for new Eco Ernie milk float drivers, so If you are interested please email laura.pratt@solent.ac.uk. 

Welfare Angels 

Become a Welfare Angel and support campagins led by Solent SU.
