► Union Constitution
The Union Constitution
Solent Students' Union shall exist;
i. To promote and advance the education and general welfare of all students throughout the University.
ii. To provide and develop social, cutural and sporting activities amongst students at the University.
iii. To act as a link between all students and the University.
iv. To represent and uphold the general interests of all students within the University.
v. To support, train and develop Officers, Staff and Members actively taking a role in the Union.
vi. To provide equality of opportunity, and be an ethical organisation.
vii. To operate in a financial prudent manner.
These aims, and all activities, shall be pursued without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, ethnic origin, religion or creed and independent of any political organisation or religious society.
In carrying out its aims the Union shall have regard to the need to ensure that Members have freedom within the law to question and test received wisdom, and to put forward new ideas and controversial or unpopular opinions without placing themselves in jeopardy or being disciplined under the disciplinary procedures set out in the constitution.
